Rubbing Flour Into Butter

Once you know how to rub butter with the flour  you’ll be able to make all sorts of delicious fruit crumbles and cakes.  Here’s how to do it:

Using only your fingers,  and not the palms of your hands,  pick up a chunk of the butter with the flour.  Rub your thumbs against your fingers,  so the butter and flour slowly falls through your fingertips. 

Then  pick up some more butter and flour and do the same thing again, and again, and again!

Keep going until  the butter and flour look like grains of sand or breadcrumbs.  This may take you some time, but be patient – the results will be worth it…
